The Sound of Freedom and the thirst for perversion
The movie “Sound of Freedom” has exposed the depth and width of child sex trafficking. One subject that has been brought up is that there is a massive market in the United States for this type of perversion. Why? I believe one of the reasons is pornography. There is a corporation called “MindGeek,” which is one of the largest porn conglomerates in the world. MindGeek owns multiple porn companies, including PornHub, RedTube, YouPorn, and Brazzers. PornHub alone, according to its 2020 Tech Review, receives 130 million viewers a day. Those views come directly from a high percentage of smartphones.
According to Family Research Policy, Eighty-seven percent of pornography includes aggression against women. As a result, pornography users grow desensitized to violence and begin to mimic the actions they consistently view. Pornography users show increased tendencies towards sexually objectifying others and committing acts of sexual violence. Normalizing aggression towards women and children through pornographic desensitization results in increased abuse, even towards members of one’s own family. Although proponents of pornography consider its use to be a personal decision, it too often comes at the cost of the exploitation of those who are most vulnerable: children. In 2018, there were 45 million images of child sexual abuse material (i.e., pornography depicting minors) reported; this number increased to 69.1 million images in 2019.17. Tragically, 67 percent of child sexual abuse material victims report that their biological parents or guardians were their abusers.18 A 2021 report by the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) attempted to promulgate the idea that children have a universal right to access pornography in order to receive “vital sexuality education.”19 The report goes on to claim that there is “no consensus” about the negativity of the impact of pornography on children. This type of deceptive language demonstrates the willingness of even major advocacy institutions to overlook the sexual exploitation of children at the hands of the pornography industry, as well as the negative psychological implications for children that view pornography. Pornography and Its Consequences July 2021 | No. IF14G01 4 The increasing market for child sexual abuse material has likewise contributed to a cultural shift evident in the hyper-sexualization of adolescent girls. One study shows that children in elementary school are potentially exposed to as many as 80,000 sexualized portrayals of girls in the span of one year.20 Research indicates that girls who are exposed to sexualized portrayals of young women show increased rates of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and low self-esteem.

One of the ways to cut off the head of this monster is to get laws into motion to get that ban pornography online across all social media websites. It should be made almost impossible for people to download any pornography, but especially child pornography. Pornography is an addiction of the mind first, and its lust attaches to the body. Then with some, it becomes a sickness in the heart when these practices are acted out on children. Pornography is one of the entrances to this sickness. The cycle is repeated with sexual abuse. We can stop this in our nation by cutting the throat of pornography. This is a good first step in quenching this thirst in our nation.
