When a person is in a relationship, it takes two to cultivate so the relationship can grow and flourish. It’s the same with God our Father. Take a look at these scriptures:
James 4:8
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
Jeremiah 29:12-14
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord,
Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
The above scriptures all point to an active, engaging relationship with God. If we draw, he draws; if we call, he hears; if we seek, he will be found. It’s conditional based on our actions and intentions toward him. The big one is if we confess and believe, he saves us. Wow!
It’s like this throughout the scriptures. We are called to a living, active relationship with God without mechanics. Let’s look at 1 Timothy 2:1-4
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, Â for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, Â who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
We are asked to pray for all mankind and those in Government positions. If we do this, it will lead to a quiet and peaceful life, and it will also be good and pleasing to our Father. Again, God, our Father, acts on our behalf when we do something.
I pray that our relationship with God grows and flourishes as we not only say we believe but also show we believe by our actions.
